THE ITALIAN ARTIST DUO HACKATAO, AMONG THE PIONEERS OF THE INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT OF CRYPTOART, PAYS HOMAGE TO THE MASTER LUCIO FONTANA WITH AN ART INSTALLATION ON DISPLAY AT “CÀ LA GHIRONDA” MUSEUM, IN BOLOGNA, ITALY. THE GOAL OF THIS PROJECT IS TO BRING TOGETHER THE WORK OF THE TWO ARTISTS, FONTANA AND HACKATAO, THAT SYMBOLISE THE BREAK IN BOTH THE CONVENTIONAL ARTISTIC SCENARIOS OF THEIR TIMES.
TO GO “BEYOND”.
BEYOND THE LIMITS OF THE CANVAS, FOR FONTANA. BEYOND THE LIMITS OF THE PHYSICAL WORK, FOR HACKATAO. BEYOND SPACE, TIME, AND THE VOID.
The circular setup of the exhibition allows the visitors to gravitate around the two works by Fontana & by Hackatao, which are mirroring each other and take the viewer to experience a continuum. The view through Fontana’s cuts makes the visitors immerse themselves in the key symbols of the 1950s and 1960s, through the unique and inimitable symbolism of Hackatao’s digital universe.
Careful research for the pivotal points of mid-twentieth-century art history that deserves to be decrypted. Hackatao dig deep into Fontana’s three-dimensionality, to bring to light a new way of making art.
“FONTANA WAS A TRUE REVOLUTIONARY IN THE ART OF HIS TIME. HIS EXPERIENCE TEACHES US THAT EVERY PARADIGM NEEDS CONSTANT DEDICATION AND TIME TO BE ACCEPTED AND UNDERSTOOD. THE VISION OF THIS SPATIAL CONCEPT - WAITS, SEVEN CUTS, LEFT US DAZZLED BY THE INTRINSIC STRENGTH OF ITS ESSENCE. WE WANTED TO GO BEYOND THE CANVAS, AS FONTANA HIMSELF TEACHES, TO ENTER THE BLACK OF THOSE CUTS AND IMAGINE WHAT HAD BROUGHT HIM TILL THERE. DIGGING INTO THAT WONDERFUL AND PROLIFIC HISTORICAL PERIOD OF THE 1950S AND 1960S AND UNDERSTAND HOW CRUCIAL THEY WERE FOR ITALY.” Hackatao
“The term LIGHT refers to the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum visible to the human eye. Diffuse reflection from surfaces is the main mechanism by which objects reveal themselves to our eyes.
Hackatao’s artworks, among many other peculiarities, are characterized by the presence of many eyes with their eyelids always open, like cracks, cuts.
In this ARTISTIC EXCHANGE between Hackatao and Fontana, the main character is everything that goes BEYOND and that is captured by and through the gashes as well as by the eyes themselves. That light that lies beyond our universe or reality, as we perceive it, to which Fontana has opened the way with an act of CONSTRUCTION rather than DESTRUCTION, like that of his cuts.
And today it is precisely those gashes to be the point of contact which brings both Hackatao and Fontana in the same space at the same time; thus giving us back the opportunity of an all-round vision of what transpires behind and beyond the CANVAS, of two different and dual entities, two surfaces, two worlds.
In BEYOND THE VOID these cuts are both black holes and/or glimpses; the precise point at which the universe congeals”, explains curator Eleonora Brizi.

After the opening night there will be a live streaming through the main digital platforms. An opportunity to overcome the physical space-time limits and seek an interconnection with the crypto community in conjunction with the “real” gathering of those present at the event.
An artistic project organised by the “Ca’ la Ghironda” Museum in collaboration with the Zanini Arte gallery, under the curation of Eleonora Brizi.
